"TRANSFORMATIVE SECONDARY TEACHER'S CPD": TAUGHT MEd CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSTITY INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION 1996-97 ESSAY 1 DRAFT

Introduction

"You will all do tons of INSET" my Bretton Hall lecturer assured me and the rest of the lecture theatre during my teacher training 1990-91. I was awarded a PGCE pass and got appointed in a school for September that year. Sure enough, over three decades later, John Atkinson's words are still resounding. Like most veteran teachers, I've now completed a multitude of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses - short workshops and lengthier exchanges. None of the courses (aside to statutory training like Safeguarding and Prevent) have been as transformative as my attendance (Med day release) at Cambridge University five years after I attained my PGCE pass at Bretton.

Unfortunately, my Doctor signed me off for a Term and I have yet to complete the Degree but this did not detract from the valuable experience shared in this Blogger post in audio file form. Please click on the link below to listen to my course work recount and self evaluation:
